I hope and pray that you had a fabulous weekend! My mom and I are on a mother-daughter trip right now in London. We’ve been here since last week, and got to go to Hillsong’s Colour Conference — their women’s conference. I will tell you more about it when I get home, but let me just say it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! So empowering, encouraging, inspiring and life-giving! 🙂 Today, we are headed to FRANCE with some good friends who travel there regularly! I studied French starting in 7th grade, so I’ve wanted to go there since I was like 12! Total dream come true!!
Speaking of dream come true, how many of you have ever written down life goals, or written down your intentional bucket list? I admit that I’ve been a skeptic of this all my life. 🙂 I’ve never written down life-goals or dreams because frankly, I was afraid of not accomplishing them and have been worried that they may not be “God’s will” (I admit it, I sometimes am afraid to fail…anyone else out there like me?!). But, I recently read, “The Circle Maker” by Mark Batterson and let me just say — it’s a must-read! I think I read it in 2 weeks. If you need any encouragement what-so-ever in your prayer life (remember: Jesus did not say, “if you pray,” rather “when you pray”), this book will no doubt put some fire back into your prayer life.
While reading the book, I was definitely convicted to write down my life goals, so that I could be intentional about praying for them (duh!). Not sure why I didn’t think about it that way before, but no matter, there is no better time to start than now. 🙂 I broke down the life goals into sections that reflect what I want to do with my family, where I want to travel and how I want to be influential in my life. Living life to the fullest absolutely delights God and one of the ways we can be intentional about not just living a life that “happens to us,” is by intentionally pursing the desires of our heart. There are fewer things that help us do that than writing down our dreams and praying about them. And honestly, “Where there is no vision, the people perish,” (Proverbs 29:18). I don’t know about you, but when I’m without a dream in my heart, I’m as good as dead because I feel like all the life has been sucked out of me (we were definitely NOT created to live that kind of life, nor to feel that way).
It’s true, we only get one life to live. Girls, let us not let this life pass us by! There are seasons when it can feel like we are in a rut and that dreams don’t really come true. And it’s true, there can be times when we are very dissapointed by how things turned out. But if we just sit around waiting for life to happen to us, good luck accomplishing all that you dream about in this life, it simply won’t happen. If you dream of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro (this is NOT one of my life goals, even though I’ve seen it in person at least 3 times), you will NOT accomplish this by merely dreaming about it. 🙂 Rather you need to actually go and do it, and that may require prayer for finances, an open schedule and an open door for it to come about. But doing nothing about it will not get you any closer to the top of that mountain. Imagine a world filled with women intentionally pursuing ALL that God has put on their hearts — WOW, that is an incredible image in my mind! 🙂
So girls, start dreaming, start praying, and get living! (And read “The Circle Maker” if you haven’t already!)
This week, I pray that God will help you dream and will show you plans that were put in your heart when you were formed! Thank you, beautiful, for all you do!
